Recently, a reporter from CCTV News Channel visited the CGN Hotan Luopu 500 MW Photovoltaic Desertification Control Project site, conducting a live broadcast from the photovoltaic panel installation and planting zones. The report highlighted the project’s achievements and expertise in integrating “photovoltaic desertification control and ecological restoration.”
The CGN Hotan Luopu 500 MW Photovoltaic Desertification Control Project spans an area of 22,000 mu, located 15 kilometers east of Luopu County in the Hotan region. Situated on the southern edge of the Taklamakan Desert at an altitude of 1,285 meters, the site experiences extreme conditions, including maximum wind speeds of 23.9 m/s and severe wind erosion and sand impact. Developing a photovoltaic project in such an environment imposes stringent performance requirements on equipment and poses significant challenges to suppliers’ delivery capabilities.
According to the project design, Grand Sunergy is tasked with supplying 1,047,904 N-type monocrystalline bifacial dual-glass rectangular cell modules. These modules are specifically engineered to deliver exceptional tear resistance, corrosion resistance, and load-bearing capacity, ensuring safe and stable operation even under extreme snow and ice conditions. Additionally, their ultra-high power output capability maximizes the utilization of local solar resources, optimizing power generation efficiency and enhancing investment returns for end users.
The project employs domestically developed “sand film” technology, which uses plant root systems to stabilize the soil surface, transforming loose sand into soil structures capable of retaining water and nutrients for crop growth. The installed photovoltaic modules not only convert sunlight into electricity but also shield the ground beneath from direct sunlight, reducing water evaporation, lowering wind speeds, and stabilizing the soil. This creates a replicable and scalable model for integrating photovoltaic systems with desertification control.
To meet the project’s timeline, Grand Sunergy overcame challenges posed by rain, snow, and low temperatures, ramping up production to ensure steady supply and timely delivery. Looking ahead, Grand Sunergy remains committed to its customer-first approach, ensuring reliable project support and contributing to the completion of this landmark initiative. The project accelerates the green, high-quality development of Xinjiang’s energy and ecological landscape.
